Dharshini Tambiah was born and educated in England. She gained a First Class Bachelor's degree in Music at the University of Lancaster and then pursued performance studies at the Royal College of Music in London, graduating with Distinction. Recent performances have included solo recitals in London (at St. Martin-in-the-Fields) and Paris, and chamber concerts across Europe and in the USA, most notably at the Kaufman Center in New York city. In March 2007 Dharshini gave her debut solo recital at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall in New York and she will be returning there to give another recital in April 2009 which will include the World Premier of a new piece by American composer, Augusta Read Thomas.
